  Chlorine dioxide disinfection is currently the mainstream process in medical institutions, with stronger adaptability. It can achieve a sterilization rate of 99.9%, inactivating most viruses within 30 minutes of contact. It resists interference from wastewater turbidity. Ultraviolet disinfection leaves no residue and is fast. However, its shortcomings are obvious; its effectiveness drops significantly when suspended solids exceed 20 mg/L. I have encountered clinics that only used ultraviolet disinfection, and on rainy days when the water was turbid, fecal coliform levels exceeded the standard by 3 times.

  IV. GB18466 National Standard Compliance Requirements

  Domestic medical institutions uniformly comply with the GB18466 discharge standard for wastewater, which has stringent requirements. Pre-treatment standards for discharge into municipal sewer networks: COD ≤ 250 mg/L, fecal coliforms ≤ 5000 MPN/L; direct discharge standards: COD ≤ 60 mg/L, total residual chlorine controlled within the range of 0.5-10 mg/L.
